Job Summary:

The Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) Manager of Commissioning and Startup (CSU) reports to the M&T Global Business Unit (GBU) Manager of Functions. This role involves directing the formulation of departmental management policies, procedures, plans, and programs within the assigned office or project. The Manager of CSU works independently, exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments, and leads cross-functional teams, projects, or initiatives. The role also includes proactively identifying and solving complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business, working on issues that impact design or address future concepts, products, or technologies, and creating and working collaboratively with formal networks with key decision makers. Recognizes that erroneous decisions will have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, division, or company operations. Additionally, the Manager of CSU may serve as an external spokesperson for the organization.

 

The M&T GBU focuses on EPC services in semiconductors, electric vehicles (batteries, charging, and production), synthetic materials, data centers, and pharmaceuticals.

Major Responsibilities:

Oversight and Coordination: Responsible for overseeing multiple projects across the GBU.

Supervision: Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned personnel.

Policy and Strategic Planning: Partners with senior managers to establish GBU policies and strategic plans.

Decision Making: Makes final decisions on administrative or operational matters.

Leadership: Provides direction to senior managers in various areas.

Complex Issue Analysis: Works on complex issues requiring in-depth company knowledge.

Strategy and Direction: Provides strategy and direction for functional areas.

Performance Accountability: Accountable for performance results of various disciplines or departments.

Business Objectives: Develops and executes strategies to achieve key business objectives.

Planning and Budgeting: Controls planning, staffing, budgeting, and expense priorities. Conducts department operations within approved budget limits. Prepares estimates and provides necessary input for proposal activities.

Executive Interaction: Regularly interacts with executives and major customers.

Department Management: Manages the GBU Commissioning and Startup department operations.

Problem Solving: Proactively identifies and solves complex problems.

Future Concepts: Works on issues impacting future concepts, products, or technologies.

Networking: Creates and collaborates with formal networks with key decision makers.

Policy Formulation: Directs the formulation of policies, procedures, plans, and programs.

Staff Assignments: Reviews and approves internal organization and startup staff assignments.

Project Assessments: Conducts project assessments and reviews for effective execution and procedural compliance.

Technological Trends: Keeps abreast of technological developments and trends.

Technical Guidance: Participates in project planning sessions to provide technical guidance.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1: Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience.

Level 2: Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) in Engineering and 18+ years of relevant experience or 22+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Recognized as an expert and advisor within the company and emerging as an external thought leader within strategic function or discipline. 

Requires in-depth knowledge and understanding of the functional area, business strategies, and the company's goals. 

Has broad and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories, techniques, and/or technologies within own function or discipline. 

Comprehensive knowledge & experience of testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning & turnover practices within the M&T sectors. 

Knowledge of international standards, codes, and industry practices related to M&T CSU and other completions activities.
