Job Summary:
The Learning Design Specialist is responsible for analyzing, designing, developing and implementing enterprise learning solutions for Bechtel's global organization. They will provide deep experience and expertise in adult learning design to build and maintain effective training, learning solutions, and performance support tools for the organization. They will work collaboratively with global Talent Management colleagues to evaluate learning requests, manage projects on time and on budget, and develop and implement engaging learning solutions.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office (Reston, VA). Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
- Analyzing and designing learning solutions and development programs that are engaging, informative, high quality and delivered according to Corporate Learning and Developments standards.
- Creating multifaceted learning curriculum including ILT, OLT, asynchronous web-based training, team building, hands-on activities, and post-course evaluations.
- Ensuring portfolio of learning solutions are in alignment with enterprise priorities and requirements, and managing the production and refresh of courses accordingly.
- Collaborating and consulting with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand their training needs, assessing existing resources to identify the most suitable content to address learning requests.
- Building trusting relationships with internal customers and stakeholders by delivering as promised.
- Supporting course pre-production and copy-editing, including reviewing course materials for completeness, spelling, and grammatical errors.
- Conduct train-the-trainer sessions for newly introduced courses or course updates to ensure all team members are aligned and informed.
- Collaborating with colleagues to share best practices within the Bechtel Talent Management team.
- Conducting research to ensure utilization of industry’s best practices and to provide innovative solutions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Learning, Human Resource Management, or business-related field and 8–10 years of relevant experience; or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in building corporate learning solutions.
- A high level of interpersonal skills including excellent oral, written, graphic communication and presentation skills.
- Advanced proficiency in instructional design methodologies and tools including design documents and scripts/storyboards.
- Experience utilizing web-development/e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline and Rise).
- Ability to work independently and function as an effective team player across multiple organizations.
- Experience collaborating with subject matter experts.
- Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EPC industry.
- Experience in development of training video content.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) with experience translating English content into Spanish.
