Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.
Job Summary:
Essential duties include performing pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code and European codes. The stress work includes the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.

Major Responsibilities:
- Perform pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code and European codes.
- The stress work includes the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
- Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
- Plans plant and piping layouts and prepares detailed plant and piping designs and drawings for structures (e.g. load sketches and/or orientation and elevation drawings) and portions of major plants. Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance
- Prepares plant design and piping designs and construction drawings using 2-D / 3-D computer aided design (CAD), presentation graphics and plant design models and codes
- Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance
- Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements
- Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements
- Participates in studies that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in plant design and piping work

- Acquires knowledge of and utilizes BSAPs, SCPs, and other software, including questioning the output generated by computer programs when the results do not seem reasonable
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Level I: requires a BS degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
- Level II: requires a BS degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 9 years of related experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and/or B31.1 and other relevant industry piping codes and standards.
- Experience using pipe stress analysis programs.
Additional Qualifications
- PE Registration.
- Prior experience using AutoPipe for pipe stress analysis.
- Previous Bechtel project experience.
- Previous Nuclear project experience.
- Previous experience with European codes and standards.
