Job Summary:

The Internal Audit function provides a variety of high quality and efficient audit and advisory services, including:

  • Providing assurance about the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Testing compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing financial processes that could affect the accuracy of Bechtel’s financial reporting.
  • Monitoring systems and transactions to reduce the risk of theft, fraud or corruption.
  • Evaluating aspects of risk management.
  • Performing special investigations.

 

The Internal Audit function reports to the General Counsel and to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors; and is independent of other functions and Global Business Units.

 

The Internal Audit Manager will be a key member of a Global Internal Audit team reporting to the Head of Global Internal Audit. The audits will vary in complexity, and include large, complex projects within the Energy, Infrastructure, Mining & Metals, Nuclear, Safety and Environmental, and Manufacturing & Technology markets. Audits may focus on projects, joint ventures, permanent offices, and specific processes. Some audits are performed remotely, while others require site visits domestically and internationally.

 

This position can be based in Glendale, AZ or in Reston, VA.

 

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage audit engagements by leading the audit strategy and audit execution in compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Execute complex audit procedures and lead teams or parts of teams on engagements, depending on the size of the engagement.
  • Assist in, and provide input to, the execution of the enterprise-wide internal auditing strategy, and adhere to auditing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Use auditing governance frameworks and procedures to plan and project manage assigned audit engagements and tasks required to meet audit objectives.
  • Prepare audit reports and recommends enhanced controls or processes as needed.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with other functions within the company.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for international audits – approximately 10 – 15% of the year.
  • Help craft solutions to audit findings, review and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations and identify action steps required to remediate within a reasonable time.
  • On occasion, deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations.
  • Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail.
  • Possess strong organizational and follow-through skills, including the ability to handle competing priorities to meet multiple deadlines and commitments.
  • Anticipate stakeholder needs and develop and discuss potential solutions.
  • Contribute to an environment where technology and people thrive together.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with 6 or more years in external audit, internal audit or advisory services.
  • 5+ years of ‘Big 4’ experience
  • Prefer active CPA/ACCA/ACA license, CIA, or CFE designation.
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the year

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Significant experience leading, planning, execution and reporting on audits and proven experience in delivering audit and assurance engagements.
  • Strong data analytic skills.
  • Proven project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • Prefer engineering and construction industry experience.
