Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing and maintaining enterprise learning solutions for Bechtel's global organization.  They will provide deep experience and expertise in instructional design to build and maintain effective training, learning solutions and performance support tools for the enterprise.  They will work collaboratively with global colleagues to evaluate learning requests as well as develop and implement engaging learning solutions. #LI-KL1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and designing learning solutions that are engaging, informative, high quality and delivered according to Corporate Learning & Developments standards and guidelines
  • Develops e-Learning and Instructor led courses in partnership with a content SME through all stages of the learning design process.   
  • Create and maintain learning content, including programs of instruction, student handbooks, instructor guides, course materials, videos, job aids, and handouts.
  • Performs technical troubleshooting during and after the production process.  
  • Conducts quality assurance testing on all training materials created, including loading, testing, and evaluating programs in the Learning Management System (SuccessFactors).  
  • Stays up to date with the latest design methods, theories, and technologies.  
  • Provides input and recommendations to support the design of future courses.  

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience, or 9-12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in adult learning design and development, with at least 2 years’ experience in building corporate training courses and materials.
  • Portfolio with diverse examples demonstrating different functionalities of Articulate Storyline 360, such as interactive simulations, branching scenarios, drag-and-drop activities, gamification elements, adaptive learning paths, and multimedia integration.
  • Must be dedicated to developing and delivering outstanding work in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary for subject matter interviews, content development, storyboarding, team collaboration, giving peer review feedback, and facilitating effective meetings.
  • Proficiency with a variety of web-development/e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia) to support cross-platform deployment.
  • Graphic design skills and experience in development of training video content.
  • Time management and organization skills necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate global time zones, as needed.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) with experience translating English content into Spanish is a plus.
