Job Summary:

 Bechtel seeks a Communications Specialist to support the HR function develop impactful communications to enhance the employee experience. The HR Communications Specialist will help plan, develop, and execute multi-faceted internal communications programs for global colleagues. The role is based at Bechtel’s corporate operations headquarters in Reston, VA (in office 3 days a week) and will be required to collaborate with colleagues across the company.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Drafts announcements, communications plans, messaging, and talking points for print, web, face-to-face, and digital communications; provides copy editing, content creation, project outreach, employee notifications, social media posts, etc.
  • Works closely with internal teams on strategy, execution, and maintenance of communication efforts to engage Bechtel employees.
  • Conducts research on a variety of projects, compile information, and assists in developing strategic communications plans.
  • Assists in monitoring, maintaining, and updating internal communication platforms, ensuring information is current and accessible.
  • Supports signature HR events, including Global HR All-hands, Q&A Sessions, and D&I Townhalls.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint as well as Adobe.
  • Familiarity with employee communications software: Proze or comparable products.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including proficiency in the use of AP style guide.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously delivering accurate results within deadline.
  • Must be a creative, organized, enthusiastic individual with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a fast-changing environment.
  • Applications should include at least three current writing samples.
