Job Summary:
Bechtel is currently seeking a Server Administrator to join the Global Datacenter team. The Global Datacenter team manages infrastructure technologies deployed globally. This role is primarily onsite datacenter support in Ashburn, Virginia. It will also be supplemented with other support, of varying tasks. Teammates from the Reston team of administrators support a variety of technologies, including servers, storage, VMware, and operating systems in datacenters, small offices, and jobsites. This position requires regular travel to our largest datacenter in Ashburn, Virginia.
Major Responsibilities:
- Datacenter work, including rack-and-stack, cabling, asset tagging, and inventory management.
- Diagnose and fix various devices in our Ashburn datacenter, especially Cisco UCS server HW.
- Remote administration of servers.
- Open support tickets with vendors (especially Cisco).
- Work ServiceNow tickets assigned to the group.
- Write and maintain standard operating procedures and standards.
- Deploy and decommission servers via Ansible.
- Server environment tasks, such as DNS changes, Active directory changes, etc.
- Coordinate datacenter activities: inbound/outbound shipments, oversee the activities of other Bechtel teams.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Datacenter knowledge (e.g. cable management, power management).
- Lift 50 pounds. Climb step ladders. (Required).
- Strong knowledge of server hardware. Cisco UCS is required.
- Work autonomously after receiving instruction.
- Read and write documentation with good English language skills.
- Spoken communication skills well-suited for resolving problems with manufacturers.
- ServiceNow familiarity is a plus.
- VMware, and other relevant technologies are a plus.
