Job Summary:
Bechtel is currently seeking a Facilities Services Supervisor to join our Corporate Facilities team in Reston, Virginia. The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing various facility management and office services functions, including daily office operations, space design, vendor contracts, space management, landlord coordination, and ensuring compliance with office safety and security requirements.
This position is based in Reston, VA, but will also provide support for our Washington, DC office as needed. No relocation assistance is authorized. #LI-KL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and coordination office designs, construction projects, major moves, renovations, space allocation, and furniture/equipment distribution, requiring sound judgment and experience.
- Supervise and contribute to the development of facility designs, layouts, drawings, and specifications, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
- Partner with internal stakeholder to gather and translate space requirements, workflow needs and project objectives into actionable plans.
- Evaluate facility spaces to identify opportunities for improvement, efficiency, and optimization.
- Oversee the development of comprehensive facility plans, including space allocations, layouts, and furniture/equipment recommendations.
- Guide the use of CADD software for the creation of accurate and detailed floor plans and conceptual designs.
- Assess subcontractor and resource needs for facilities projects and coordinate with relevant internal teams.
- Supervise design and construction activities, collaborating with office services staff, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Provide leadership and support for general facility operations, including oversight of furniture relocations, maintenance requests, and signage/art installations.

- Assist in executing facility service contracts.
- Oversee complex office services functions with minimal supervision, exercising discretion and independent judgment in prioritizing tasks.
- Develop and implement improved systems and procedures.
- Coordinate and liaise with landlords and building engineers.
- Lead emergency preparedness and safety programs, including documentation and planning.
- Support facility security operations as needed, including coordinating with security staff, participating in incident response, and maintaining secure building environments.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards, practices, and regulatory requirements related to facility management, workplace operations and office services.
- Ability to effectively manage and administer contracts with suppliers, contractors, and key industry partners related to facility operations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal oversight.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, including leadership, staff, and external partners.
- Proficiency in space planning tools software.
- Proficiency in CADD for developing and interpreting technical drawings and floor plans.
- Experience providing day-to-day supervision, guidance, or mentorship to team members, including task delegation, performance support, and workload coordination.
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
- First Aid/AED certification.
- Emergency preparedness.
- Active accreditation as a Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Certified BOMA Real Property Administrator, or equivalent (nice to have, but not required).
