Job Summary:
As the Environmental EGS embedded within NS&E’s Environmental team, this position will be responsible for supervising environmental engineers and scientists and providing direction on responsibilities and tasks across various projects within NS&E. The role will review and approve key regulatory documents and environmental calculations. The individual in this role must have strong knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and engineering calculation experience. The assigned activities within an engineering or scientific discipline in the Nuclear, Security, and Environmental (NS&E) global business unit on a project or program.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.LI-EH1
Major Responsibilities:
- Receives operational supervision and technical guidance from a Project Engineer and/or Chief Engineer
- Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within the Environmental Engineering discipline on a project or assignment in NS&E.
- Supervises the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
- Conducts annual performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions.
- When assigned, recommends personnel actions such as staff additions, terminations, transfers and salary changes.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly.
- Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates.
- Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work.
- Reviews and approves key Environmental engineering calculations, studies and reports including field and design documents relating to the environmental and sustainability discipline.
- Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
- Ensures that engineers and scientists supervised receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
- Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, or other scientific discipline (Mechanical, Civil, or Nuclear), from an accredited college or university with at least 8-10 years of experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering/construction firms.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug, and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge of Environmental and Sustainability systems, calculations, applications of methods, modeling, and computers in the discipline
- Knowledge of permitting and licensing processes with the ability to communicate with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods
- Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved
- Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the Environmental discipline
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Knowledge of Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), Design Guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices
- Demonstrated skill in leadership
