Role Overview: 

Provide assistance to the Mechanical EGS in developing work processes, assisting other engineers and departments, and perform various work activities.  This will include support of the design development of Mechanical systems and equipment (including HVAC, Argon gas supply, Fire Protection, and Sodium processing) for the Versatile Test Reactor project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, mini-specifications, data sheets, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.  Work with estimating, mechanical engineers and other technical disciplines in a team environment. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate within the engineering group and other disciplines and groups independently in developing the preliminary system design and equipment identification in a team environment
  • Resolve technical issues related to the discipline independently, including any required interface with other disciplines, groups, suppliers, and the customer
  • Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product
  • Support development of project cost and schedule estimates
  • Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team
  • Assists the Engineering Group supervisor to provide Technical guidance, assigning work, tracking status, developing work plans to ensure schedules and stakeholder requirements are satisfied,
  • Assist Group supervisor assure deliverable quality

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related), from an accredited university, with at least 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, P&IDs, calculations, and specifications for Mechanical systems and equipment on power plants, refineries or chemical process facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to utilize office automation tools effectively (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards, as well as Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
  • Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical engineering design principles. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience in execution center environment and demonstrated flexibility in work assignments.
  • MS degree in Mechanical or related Engineering, from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Mechanical or related Engineering).
  • Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
