Deputy Corporate Manager Planning

Job Summary:

  Corporate EPC group Planning/scheduling expert, works with Planning groups across the enterprise business lines, helps coordinate management of the Planning & Performance Knowledge network website, provides guidance to projects on scheduling issues. Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to planning and scheduling problems. Provides generally non-routine scheduling guidance and support to projects. Additionally, the Deputy Manager of Corporate Planning will support the enterprise in critical training and recruitment efforts.


Job Responsibilities:

Actively engages in coordinating activities for the Planning & Performance Management Knowledge Network

  • Assists conducting project cold eyes reviews and Planning process assessments
  • Provides guidance to NDEU project controls central functions with development of analytical dashboards
  • Coordinates with Planning groups across all business lines/GBU’s on a frequent basis for discussions on procedures and brain storming sessions
  • Coordinates with software application vendors to provide feedback to senior management
  • Engages with other functions for innovation and information coordination
  • Assists teaching of scheduling classes (Instructor led and web based)
  • Supports both Corporate and GBU Project Controls functions in recruitment efforts including job requisition generation, candidate screening and interviews, and outreach initiatives
  • Coordinates Planning committee interface meetings
  • Works with lead planners to coordinate information gathering and quality checks for Schedule Metrics
  • Works with functional managers to update summary schedules and validates progress
  • Provides guidance to junior project controls personnel on best practices and general coaching on practices and procedures
  • Works with other EPC functions to update scheduling procedures
  • Provides comments and recommendations for planning and scheduling requirements relative to staffing and project control.
  • Provides support to projects for schedule reviews and proposals schedules
  • Provides guidance and support to projects for conducting schedule contingency workshops, on an as needed basis
  • Provides guidance in development of new tools and best practices


Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline and at least 10 years of Planning experience, including a significant portion as Field Planner
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, direct, perform, review, and present schedule products independently with minimal supervision. This includes using a high level of professional judgment and knowledge related to technical planning and scheduling skills and engineering design, procurement, construction, and Start Up/Pre-commissioning practices
  • At least 5 years as Lead Planner on project 
  • Familiar with all Bechtel core Scheduling procedures and practices
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong report writing skills
  • Advanced level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup work processes, as performed by Bechtel.
  • High proficiency in use of Primavera P6
  • Proficiency with use of Primavera Risk Analyzer (PRA)
  • Ability to run schedule quality and health checks using Acumen Fuse and other applications
  • Basic knowledge of Power BI
  • Position is based full time in Reston, VA
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, on an as needed basis
  • The right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship
