Strategy and Business Development Analyst

Corporate strategy and business development has the primary responsibility for identifying, evaluating and recommending new business opportunities for Bechtel.  The Strategy & Business Development function will be the corporate-level base group for Bechtel's strategy and business development professionals investing in talent development, work practice implementation, team engagement, diversity and inclusion.  We support our global business units as they work to expand their impact with customers and achieve goals for new work.       


Role Overview

The Strategy & Business Development Analysts will be actively involved in Corporate Strategy, GBU strategic planning and business development initiatives.   Will lead and or contribute to planning and improvement task teams.   The ideal Strategy & Business Development Analyst will possess the following leadership behaviors aligned with Bechtel’s Behavioral Framework:

Job Duties:

  • Is an integral part of the work team tasked by the Corporate Manager of S&BD to achieve S&BD’s objectives and build our company for the long term.
  • Evaluates information and/or data drawn from current files, records on various projects, public records, statistics, surveys and correspondence and prepares reports drawn on this information.
  • Performs economic, financial, market and technical data analysis using quantitative analytical techniques to measure profit ability, risk sensitivity and other factors.
  • Complies and drafts reports, studies, presentations, etc.
  • Develops process maps and workflows for strategy and business development activities from positioning Bechtel in the marketplace through identifying a prospect, bidding and closing high quality project opportunity. The process mapping will include time, cost, critical paths etc. across the GBU’s and recommend process improvement as applicable 
  • Supports the Corporate Strategy team by conducting deep dives on countries, companies or prospects, evaluating the market opportunity and potential fit for Bechtel.
  • Participates in evaluations, analysis, surveys, studies and research projects concerning financial, economic, political where initiative in proposing and developing substance and format is required
  • Undertakes research and gathers information from sources outside Bechtel through contact with corporate or government reference centers, attendance at seminars and engagements with customers and stakeholders.
  • Operates in an agile environment and uses knowledge of strategic planning, business development and our business structure to support functional development initiatives ranging from work practice improvement to talent development.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, MBA highly desired
  • Demonstrated skill in synthesis, reporting, and determining recommendations
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of industry and experience in company operations. 
  • Ability to speak and write fluently in multiple languages.
