Corporate Estimating - Estimator II

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing support to the corporate estimating team in developing and maintaining processes, procedures and tools across the corporation. This specifically includes maintaining estimating related corporate procedures; providing support to GBU specific estimating efforts; assisting with historical data gathering and analysis; studies; and reviews as requested. Support the development of our “Cloud-based” database application and assist with creating innovative insights and forward-looking Business Intelligence analytics in Power BI to improve the estimating departments validation and analytics capabilities. Coordinates task execution with other Project Controls personnel or technicians.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Reports to and receives technical and operational guidance from Corporate Manager of Estimating.

  • Development of business intelligence and data analytical Power BI dashboards and visualizations, both independently and as part of a larger group effort.

  • Assists with estimating support to GBU’s or projects as required.

  • Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects.

  • Support the maintenance of the Corporate Estimating Procedures

  • Provide support in the development of estimating tools and software.

  • Provides estimating support for major corporate initiatives

  • Analyzes and associate relationships between database contents of historical project data.

  • Assists in maintenance of the costs, quantities, ratios and metrics of the historical cost databases. 


Job Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software applications. (Word, Excel, Access).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent technical field of study from an accredited university and 6 years of relevant experience.

  • Intermediate to advance knowledge and experience with Power BI and MS Excel preferred, intermediate knowledge of Power BI required.

  • Intermediate knowledge of querying and shaping data from APIs and databases, specifically in relation to Microsoft Azure and SQL is preferred, but not required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to present dashboards and analysis to team members.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team within a fast-paced environment. As well as the ability to multi-task under pressure and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated ability to write basic reports in Excel or other reporting software.

  • Some travel may be required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in a project team.

  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge in EPC estimating practices and methods.

  • Knowledge of engineering performance, manual labor performance, equipment production and derivation of manual and non- manual wage/salary rates.

  • Skills in oral and written communication.

  • Demonstrated skill to identify, analyze and solve problems in a logical, expedient and decisive manner.

  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

  • Experience with Bechtel BSAPS for Project Controls and Construction, including but not limited to; EcoSys, TeamWorks and eTrack.
