Project Overview:

The Infrastructure GBU’s Renewables & Clean Power business line is pursuing future solar plant projects and currently has a number of live projects. This role is for working in a central team on proposals and providing technical oversight of ongoing projects. Depending on project needs, the successful candidate will likely mobilize to project site for short term assignments.

Job Summary:

In this position, you will lead the Commissioning and Startup (CSU) activities for proposals and projects that requires technical skill and expertise in solar plants. You will provide leadership, oversight, guidance, training, and mentoring to the CSU team on key project procedures and CSU direction to ensure successful project execution and delivery.  

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership .#LI-VB1 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead CSU activities for a project, or for discipline/project/proposal estimating or staff planning activities that requires a high degree of technical skill and experience. 
  • Provide support to determine the right level of resources are maintained for optimum delivery.  
  • Participates in project reviews and workshops to ensure that all CSU activities are included from a procedural, cost, time and risk management perspective.  
  • Support for development and maintenance of the project CSU schedule. 
  • Oversees the development, maintenance and adoption of fit-for-purpose project CSU risk registers for the project. 
  • Leads the preparation of operations manuals. 
  • Coordinates with project management the startup related engineering, construction, and client activities as an office assignment or during startup, operations, maintenance or testing at the jobsite. 
  • Provides input to project management, engineering, and construction to ensure startup requirements are incorporated into project activities, including review of project designs and construction to ensure plant operability and operating personnel safety.  
  • Supports project/program organizational and administrative activities. 
  • Identifies and provides innovative solutions to CSU problems. 
  • Reviews contract drafts for adequacy of cost and scope definition and CSU requirements. 
  • Provides oversight, training, mentoring, and ensures capability of CSU personnel towards the attainment of project objectives. 
  • Provides support for integrating the CSU process with other key project procedures (e.g., Engineering, Construction, Change Management, Forecasting, Cost, Trends, and Claims). 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous involvement in delivering utility scale solar projects. 
  • Knowledge and experience with commissioning behind the meter power generation is preferred. 
  • Integration of power facilities in a data center environment is preferred. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, motivating and supporting others. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of CSU core processes and procedures. 
  • Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement, and construction functions and general business techniques. 
  • Awareness of commercial terms and conditions. 
  • Excellent skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated skill to present CSU information to management and client. 
  • Experience in leading a team of diverse backgrounds towards a single project outcome.
  • Other types of power generation projects CSU experience desirable.
