Job Summary:

The ThermalGen Analyst supports the development and execution of large-scale natural gas–fired power projects (i.e., combined-cycle gas-fired plants and simple-cycle gas-fired plants) within BEn’s Thermal Generation team. The role provides commercial, analytical, and coordination support across the full project lifecycle—helping senior developers advance projects from early-stage origination through financing and execution. This is an opportunity to be a key team member in an organization which has developed and/or built over 300 gas-fired power projects around the world and is currently at the forefront of solving the challenge of providing baseload power. 

The open position is based at Bechtel’s Reston, Virginia office, which is the headquarters of BEn.  

"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”  #LI-AM3 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Support development workstreams including site control, permitting, interconnection, and offtake.
  • Conduct market and site analysis to identify new project opportunities.
  • Work with team members to assist with financial modeling, due diligence, and preparation of term sheets and NDAs.
  • Help coordinate engagement with utilities, data centers, and hyperscalers on offtake opportunities.
  • Maintain project trackers, schedules, and internal reporting tools.
  • Coordinate across internal teams and partners to ensure smooth project execution. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2–7 years of relevant experience 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep interest in energy, AI, finance, and natural gas-fired power plant development.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive and collaborative internal/external working relationships.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to exercise judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Experience in supporting project development documentation and financial/economic analysis is desirable.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
