Project Overview:
Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

Job Summary:
- This role will support design development of civil/sitework/earthwork engineering designs for the project site by preparing studies, calculations, drawings, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Work with other civil engineers/designers and other technical disciplines in a team environment.
This role will be based to Reston, VA.
Major Responsibilities:
- Originate and check civil/sitework/earthwork deliverables of high complexity, including specifications, drawings, reports and calculations.
- Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
- Report civil design quantities compared to estimated quantities.
- Participate in project design/model reviews.
- Participate in constructability reviews.
- Review vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
- Execute schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in executing work as an integrated team.
Education and Experience Requirements:

- BS degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural or related), from an accredited university, with 5-8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, 9-12 years of relevant work experience
- Have a U.S. Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Must be authorized to live and work in the US without sponsorship.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Work experience should emphasize the civil / site / earthwork design of heavy industrial-type facilities. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiar with the provisions of AASHTHO, ASTM, ACI, ASTM, FHWA, MUTCD and WBDG UFC codes.
- Familiar with the methods of procurement and control of bulk materials.
- Ability to independently execute the detailed design drawings of civil/ / site / earthwork designs of high complexity.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings and specifications.
- Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally.
- Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client.
- Ability to issue a clear and concise direction to subordinate designers and drafters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS degree in Civil or related Engineering, from an accredited university.
- Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000 and/or NQA-1.
- Experience with the use or knowledge of MicroStation and Civil3D
- Construction field experience
