Plant design engineers and designers at Bechtel work with the most visible aspect of a project, the 3D model.  As a member of our plant design team, you’ll use automation more than any other discipline, and produce deliverables directly from computer models using the latest in automation software.

 

The total number of hires and start dates are subject to workload and business conditions. Locations will vary based on project needs, and may include Houston, TX or Reston, VA, along with various project sites.

 

Bechtel plant design engineers and designers are leaders in:

  • Plant arrangements and equipment layout
  • Piping design
  • Pipe support design and analysis
  • Pipe stress analysis
  • Pipe and valve materials and selection
  • HVAC layout

 

Typical Activities

  • Develop site/building general arrangements
  • Generate calculations and drawings for piping and pipe supports
  • Work in the 3D model to develop designs for piping, equipment, HVAC, or pipe supports
  • Examine and analyze pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance
  • Optimize facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, construction, startup, and vendors during development of facility design

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of graduation date
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design, systems, calculations, along with application of engineering methods and construction methods & materials
  • Possess the eligibility to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Ability and willingness to relocate and/or travel to domestic and/or international project jobsites

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university within twelve (12) months of graduation date
  • Completed relevant coursework with a strong GPA
  • Prior co-op or internship experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Obtained EIT License
