Project Overview:
Bechtel Manufacturing and Technology (M&T) is an exciting and growing business that serves the increasing demand of EPC services for customers in the semiconductor (manufacturing facilities and supply chain); electric vehicle (batteries, charging infrastructure, and production); synthetic materials; and data center markets.

Job Summary:
Bechtel is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to join the Engineering Management team within the Manufacturing and Technology Business Unit (M&T). The prime roles and responsibilities include:
Engineering work on one large complex project, more than one lesser project or designated engineering assignments (program) within a global business unit in business lines of Semiconductor, Electric Vehicle, Battery, and Data Center. Possesses full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

- Receives administrative supervision from a global business unit Manager of Engineering/Engineering Manager in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
- Receives operational supervision from a Project Manager.

- Exercises operational supervision over the engineers of all disciplines and architects assigned to the project or portion of the project.
- Contacts
- As the point of Bechtel-Client contact on engineering aspects of assigned project or portions of a project, maintains regular client contact for progress of work, exchange of information, advice.
- Represents Engineering in respect of major items with suppliers and project personnel in jobsite conferences.

Major Responsibilities:
- Supervises the engineering activity on a medium size project or designated portions of a very large or complicated project.
- As directed, manages the complex organizational interactions that evolve from the participation of several Bechtel entities on the project or from client-established relationships with other contractors.
- Establishes the detailed project execution plan and the development of the overall project engineering budget and schedule.
- Inputs to and owns the engineering elements of a project capital estimate (proposals and execution) quantities and budgets.
- Performs and manages the work in accordance with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides and Bechtel.
- Prepares, approves or recommends approval of project procedures for engineering, as required.
- Coordinates engineering effort with Project Manager, Procurement, Construction, Startup, Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) and Project Controls when assigned.
- When assigned, directs engineering activities in preparation of project proposals, including estimates for engineering staffing, quantities, scope reviews, schedules and coordination with Business Development and other functional groups.
- Reviews and approves design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction or procurement use.
- Supervises the preparation of reviews and endorses bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of equipment material and services within Engineering’s scope of responsibility.
- Visits jobsite as required for exchange of information and initiates Bechtel/Client correspondence related to the engineering portion of the contract.
- Reviews project engineering progress against approved schedules, evaluates changes and takes corrective action when required.
- Ensures that Technical Risk Assessments are comprehensive and complete, safety practices and procedures are implemented, and engineering design and corresponding design documentation are in compliance with project Quality Assurance plan and procedures.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A recognized degree in architecture, an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, OR a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board (or international equivalent).
- 15+ years of progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering or architectural design but may include other relevant types of engineering including startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
- Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
- Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
- Proficient knowledge on planning, application and coordination of 2-D and/or 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design processes on a project.
- Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Demonstrated skill in supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience and responsibility for the supervision on a medium or major size project in engineering management at Bechtel.
- Module project experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Bechtel Engineering Department Procedures.
- Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductor,
- Electric Vehicle, Battery, or Data Center
