Project Overview:
Bechtel is pursuing a significant new award of work in Egypt. The Project will cover the development of luxurious residential, commercial, and recreational spaces, tourism amenities, and economic zones. If successful, Bechtel’s contract for the delivery of this project will be for project management and construction management services.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will supervise a team of environmental engineering personnel, estimate project staffing needs, and schedule and assign work. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans and review and approve environmental engineering investigations and studies. Your leadership will drive successful implementation of recommendations to improve the environmental impact of engineering projects.
Major Responsibilities:
- Plans, develops, directs, and participates in the day-to-day Environmental Engineering activity on medium to large sized complex projects that require very major Environmental Engineering effort, or may be assigned responsibility for multiple smaller projects within a global business unit utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of Environmental Engineering personnel assigned, estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work accordingly
- Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly
- Maintains contact with other disciplines to ensure the coordination of the work within the project(s) and compliance with Bechtel/client requirements
- Reviews and makes recommendations of the Environmental Engineering aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval by project engineering
- When directed, coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of Environmental Engineering aspects of the work
- Reviews and approves key calculations, licensing evaluations, design documents, supplier drawings and data, material specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned
- Ensures that assigned Environmental Engineering personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 15-20 years of experience in design management, with at least 7-10 years in Utilities around the marine and coastal areas.
- Strong understanding of Roads / wet utilities / drainage in large public / private infrastructure from concept to execution is desirable
- Experience with BIM, GIS, in determining the existing services is desirable
- Experience regarding the understanding of soil conditions around coastal areas is preferred.
- Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Previous, related, working experience in the middle east is highly preferred.
- Experience of working within a multicultural, highly diverse team environment is essential.
- Desirable: understanding of current innovations in infrastructure works, including applications of AI.
- Desirable: understanding of international regulatory codes, standards and design criteria relating to infrastructure design.
