Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team to develop and manage a Prime Contract Management Program, including development of the contract baseline, risk mitigation, and staffing plan, for complex projects from inception through completion. You will guide the Project Manager and project team members to ensure that sound prime contract management principles are applied throughout project execution. #LI-CS1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages the prime contract and any Joint Venture Agreement(s) on a cost reimbursable contract of medium to high risk and/or complexity (e.g., incentive fees tied to price, schedule or performance) or to fixed price contracts of medium risk and complexity
  • Participates with the identification of the contract baseline, including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule, and other documents incorporated in the contract
  • Identifies areas of risk and prepares a risk mitigation plan with the project team and manages the plan’s execution.
  • Develops and implements the Prime Contract Management Program for the project consistent with the practices and procedures set forth in the Prime Contracts Management Manual, 
  • Develops suitable materials/systems to manage key issues
  • Establishes a Project Change Management Procedure, incorporating the Pending Item Program, to provide a methodology to identify changes, quantify the additional time and compensation due Bechtel per the contract, define approval requirements and communicate changes to the Customer
  • Recommends and implements actions to document and request the additional compensation or time due Bechtel
  • Prepares change orders to the Contract and develops the negotiation strategy and support/conduct negotiations
  • Participates in project related meetings,  and reviews project financial data to ensure awareness of all project activities that may affect the prime contract, identifies opportunities for revenue enhancement, schedules relief and claim avoidance, and ensures compliance with prime contract terms and conditions
  • Develops a program to identify and prepare claims as they arise and coordinate the efforts to negotiate and resolve claims 
  • Ensures contract insurance provisions are adhered to 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•    Proven experience in contracts management / contract administration within the energy, engineering, or construction sectors
•    Strong track record working on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, ideally in dynamic, multi-stakeholder environments
•    Experience in EPC programme management, and integrated delivery teams
•    Demonstrable expertise in post-award contract management, including specifically change, claims, and commercial risk management
