Project Overview:

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Emergency Response Team in everyday operations, and during emergencies. Where necessary liaise with Statutory Emergency Response organizations for Disaster Management purposes. The person will demonstrate strong leadership and excellent communication skills. Provide technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through identification and integration of applicable requirements into project construction plans and schedules and other field execution activities.  

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops and participates on Rescue Plans for all high-risk work areas, to ensure an effective response in the event of an emergency
  • Provides expert support and develops rescue plans and assessments, supporting the medical staff, and liaising with multiple output teams Inspects the Emergency Response equipment and resources to maintain a state of operational readiness
  • Conducts training programs for the Emergency Response Team Conducts air monitoring in Confined Spaces Applies First Aid techniques as first on the scene
  • Ensures that competency standards are maintained within the Emergency Response Team
  • Ensures all operational fire and rescue equipment is inspected and records maintained
  • Monitor the daily operations of the Emergency Response team Contributes to site-wide risk assessment studies and reacts proactively to areas of high risk
  • Develops and fosters a relationship with all relevant stakeholders as well as local authorities to achieve the highest level of loss prevention In conjunction with Site Medical Staff, assists with medical evacuations of sick or injured employees
  • Ensures the goals of the ES&H Department are achieved to the highest possible standard
  • Coordinates and responds to any emergency requiring the turn out of the ERT members Attends toolbox meetings providing advice on first attack fire equipment operations and fire safety issues
  • Conducts safety inspections/assessments of project construction activities to monitor compliance with applicable safety and health requirements including contractual commitments, permits, and the project's ES&H plan
  • Provides field safety assistance, technical support, and assistance to the project as defined by the supervisor Support shift coverage on a 24/7 working roster as defined by the supervisor
  • Other duties assigned by the ES&H Manager to provide compliance with the ES&H Management Plan and Processes.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in nursing and 5-8 years of relevant experience in occupational health and emergency nursing in occupational health and emergency nursing, and a valid nursing license for the location assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of technical rescue, emergency response strategies, and incident command
  • Ability to develop and deliver fire and rescue training packages
  • A sound awareness of operational safety issues and an excellent personal safety record
  • Knowledge in the field of risk assessment and risk management
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, engineering systems, principles, and methodologies
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risk exposures
  • Thorough knowledge of rope rescue techniques
  • Relevant qualification in an Emergency Services Discipline Knowledge of Emergency Response strategies: Confined Space Rescue, Vertical Rescue - rescue rope techniques, Hazmat Incident Management, Incident Command and Control, Advanced First Aid and Advanced Resuscitation- as a minimum
