Project Overview:

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. As the #1 LNG EPC contractor by installed capacity, Bechtel has the capability to successfully deliver a broad range of LNG projects through our integrated EPC self-perform model, strategic partnerships, and proven experience in LNG project delivery. Partnering with Bechtel means lower cost, shorter delivery schedules, and greater certainty of outcomes for our customers.

 

Job Summary:

The Structural Superintendent is responsible for supervising and directing operations within the structural steel discipline. Supervises and directs craft professionals, subordinate supervisors, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction performance is following specifications and within schedules and budgets. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift, split shift, or day shift. In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-BH1

 

Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging 

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches. 
  • Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of "as built" drawings and other job plans.  

Material Management 

  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases. 
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. 

Quantities 

  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required. 

Safety / Quality Control 

  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely. 

Technical 

  • Proactively considers continuous learning or shows interest to pursue appropriate learning activities 

System Turnover Coordinator 

For Direct Hire

  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development. 

STR / Subcontract Coordinator 

  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans 
  • Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals 

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  •  Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience on an LNG construction site especially along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken. Experience in oil, gas, refinery, petrochemical, minerals processing or power generating station construction is preferred.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to develop 3-week look ahead schedule in regard to work operations Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams. 

 

Additional Information:

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
