Project Overview:

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects. As the #1 LNG EPC contractor by installed capacity, Bechtel has the capability to successfully deliver a broad range of LNG projects through our integrated EPC self-perform model, strategic partnerships, and proven experience in LNG project delivery. Partnering with Bechtel means lower cost, shorter delivery schedules, and greater certainty of outcomes for our customers.

Job Summary:

The I&C Analyzer Specialist is responsible for all activities related to installation, and commissioning of on-stream process analyzer systems, including installation, Commissioning and integration to ICSS, The I&C Analyzer Specialist supports the operation of the process systems within a LNG facility

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop understanding of LNG plant processes; able to discriminate between analyzer and sampling system problems/opportunities and process issues.
  • Provide leadership in the continuous improvement of process analyzer quality systems; champion process analyzer online product certification. 
  • Lead on-stream process analyzer and sampling systems, installation, and commissioning associated with this project.
  • Interface with diverse groups including vendors, Client analyzer technicians, process operations and board operators, and process computer control engineers.
  • Provide daily technical expertise to Startup and Operations relative to support of process analyzer systems, including troubleshooting persistent problems, reliability issues, project support, and operations procedure development.
  • Ensure that all analyzers work per site requirements and specifications.

The I&C Analyzer Specialist Responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

  • Commission, test, troubleshoot, adjust process Analyzer equipment used in the LNG facility.
  • Supervise mechanical functions and duties of inspecting, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing all Analyzers related equipment in order to deliver to the Client high levels of safe and productive equipment performance.
  • Properly completes records of time and required regulatory reports.
  • Maintains close contact with the Operations group regarding trouble reports to affect a minimum interruption of product throughout.
  • Participate in available cross training to effectively develop skills in areas specific to other CSU I&C activities.
  • Attend all safety meetings and safety training courses as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to properly collect gas and NGL samples.
  • Installing, commissioning and operating gas and liquid sampling and sample conditioning systems.
  • Scheduling, completing and witnessing chromatograph tests.
  • Installing equipment from drawings, schematics and manufacturer's manuals.
  • Troubleshooting and rectifying equipment failures using test equipment.
  • Planning, scheduling and coordinating work with other departments to ensure timely completion of equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Operating Bechtel applications software, TW, SR, SC.
  • Maintain the reliability of the analyzers currently in use at the LNG plant. Routinely review procedures to achieve positive performance.
  • Ensure compliance of all Company and industry standards to meet the requirements of all regulatory agencies. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Inherent understanding of physics and chemistry is required especially in regards to gas and fluid dynamics 
  • Experienced working on analytical instrumentation.
  • A minimum of 10+ years’ work experience in the natural gas industry is preferred.
  • A basic to advanced level of knowledge in gas measurement is required.
  • Understanding of integrated analyzer systems and knowledge of many different types of process analyzer measurements.
  • Experience working at a LNG or Chemical plant.
  • Ability to follow written or spoken instructions; understand equipment repair manuals; and Federal, state and local codes and regulations is required.
  • General knowledge in the field of electronics, natural gas chemistry, gas chromatograph, operations, applications, equipment and servicing methods is required.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
  • The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, teams, customers, and stakeholders of the business, at various levels of the organization, in a business-like and professional manner is required.
  • The ability to modify communication style in order to influence, persuade, negotiate, and engage all parties according to the audience and circumstance is required.
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues. Quickly and efficiently completes tasks.
  • The ability to demonstrate conscientiousness, dependability and commitment to the role, team and company.
  • Work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
