Project Overview:

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead, implement, and maintain global construction field welding programs and provide specialized welding engineering support. You will manage, inspect, and monitor the welding test lab, the rod room, the weld heat treatment program, and the laboratory quality plan. Your technical advice will help ensure defects, behaviors, and other issues are rectified prior to final inspection. #LI-BH1

Major Responsibilities:

The Corporate Welding Specialist is responsible for supporting the welding & Training activities across the enterprise. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Provide technical assistance to field engineers, discipline superintendents and crafts.
  • Oversee and maintain Project Field Welding program.
  • Provide specialized welding engineering support to ensure construction meets all code and site requirements.
  • Implementation of the project ES&H program and quality control program.
  • Manage and maintain the welding test shop to ensure high quality welders are being tested.
  • Working knowledge of our corporate welding procedures and standards.
  • Coordinate and support the project NDE program.
  • Support the crafts in meeting quality requirements in order to maintain cost and schedule.
  • Verification of materials, workmanship, and specification/code requirements.
  • Interface with the Welding & NDE Services manager for direction of work task assigned.
  • Must posses a high level of practical welding skill sets for SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding processes.
  • As requested, Trouble-shoot engineering design and resolve issues with engineering and/or fabricator.
  • Coach lower level engineers within the welding discipline to ensure employees' and Bechtel's needs are accomplished to achieve project and Bechtel goals.
  • Maintain weld inspection tracking system using TEAMWorks/WITS applications.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Bechtel's SWPP 4MP-T81-03701 Welding Program, 03702 Welder Training & Instructor Qualification, 03703 Positive Material Identification, and 03705 Welding & NDE Documentation is desirable.
  • Manage, issue, and maintain welder qualifications and welder stencils.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree + 4 Years Industry Related Experience, associate's degree + 4 Years Industry Related Experience. In lieu of degree, must have HS Diploma / GED + 8 Years Industry Related Experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must meet the training and experience requirements to acquire the Bechtel Level II VT NDE Certifications.
  • Must be familiar with the applicable codes of construction
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the GMAW (STT) welding process and the ability to train welders.
  • Manage and maintain filler metal control
  • Ensure welders are qualified to perform welding for assigned task
