Project Overview

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects.

Position Summary

As the Project ES&H (Environmental, Safety and Health) Multilingual Trainer you will be responsible for developing, managing, and providing ES&H training in both English and Spanish, and supporting the development and management of the project training facilities, in support of the project ES&H Management Plans and ES&H Training Management Plan. The role is based on the Port Arthur Liquefaction Project site (7 miles south of Port Arthur, Texas), and works a 48-hour extended work week. The successful candidate will be willing and able to work a reasonable amount of overtime and if required night shift, as needed to support safe project execution. The ES&H Multilingual Trainer is a project-based role, providing training support to management, supervision, craft professionals and subcontractors.

 

Responsibilities

  • Delivery of training elements and modules in both English and Spanish as per the Projects ES&H Training Management Plan.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating training programs, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintaining the project ES&H training matrix as part of a wider training matrix.
  • Maintaining all training records as part of the projects Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Verifying / assessing subcontractor conformance to training plan(s).
  • Reporting conformance to the ES&H Training Management Plan.
  • Participating in review of corrective actions to help ascertain where training would help minimize reoccurrence or repetition of non-conformance or incidents.
  • Assist with coordinating the training schedule.
  • Support of the day-to-day project training activities.
  • Support development of training materials and presentations.
  • Support all aspects of the Project Hazard School whereby participants gain a thorough understanding of the need to anticipate and recognize hazards, the risks of exposure and strategies for self-awareness.
  • Strong knowledge of ES&H regulations and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and One Drive tools.
  • A strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the ES&H Training Supervisor / Project ES&H Manager.
  • Expected to remain onsite during inclement weather events unless otherwise authorized by supervisor.
  • Know and follow the requirements contained in the Port Arthur Liquefaction Project Work Rules.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication in both English and Spanish.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Communications, Science, or equivalent experience in a specialized scientific field (e.g., safety, industrial engineering, public health) is preferred.
  • 5 years prior experience in Education, Training, HR, or related area of focus.
  • Prior experience in commercial construction, or similar industry, a plus.
  • Experience in development, presentation, and assessment of ES&H education and training plans / packages on large construction projects required.
  • Experience and qualification / certification regarding Train the Trainer preferred.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge in the field of ES&H Management, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety procedures, principles, and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of national environmental and safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ processes and responsibilities, industry standards/practices for compliance, and best management practices for minimizing potential ES&H risks during project execution.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risk exposures, Personal Protective Equipment standards as well as Craft Based Leadership behavioral based safety observation processes or similar.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Bechtel’s organizational structure, functions, and administrative procedures.
  • Emergency response qualifications, i.e., confined space, vertical rescue, and firefighting.
  • Why Tree, ICAM or Taproot certificate.
