Project Overview:

Port Arthur LNG, LLC (PALNG) is developing a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on a site located on the western shoreline of the Port Arthur Canal in Jefferson County, Texas. The project base scope will include two (2) identical LNG trains, two (2) LNG Storage Tanks, one (1) LNG Carrier Berth, and associated utilities/facilities. The Project is to be constructed on a parcel of land located along State Highway 87 south of Port Arthur, Texas, between the inner coastal waterway bridge and Keith Lake. 

Job Summary:

The Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Process Engineer is responsible for CSU Process Engineering support activities on the Port Arthur LNG Project. In addition, the CSU Process Engineer shall be responsible for coordinating and executing (with commissioning engineer and operator support) Demonstration Tests of equipment and packaged components, as well as supporting the Plant Performance Test of the process Trains. #LI-SP1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works with startup system engineers to execute demonstration and performance tests.        
  • Produces additional plant simulations, studies, calculations, equipment sizing, process checks and research, and other specific process design oriented tasks, specifically for the CSU team. This involves pulling in diverse bodies of information from various sources and may include evaluation against safety, quality, cost, and schedule drivers in determination of a given solution.
  • Evaluates necessary design changes (temporary or otherwise) and coordinates with resident and home office engineers in resolution and troubleshooting of problems found by the CSU team.
  • Works with current UniSim models of the plant to simulate different operating cases and modes for the plant to assist in achieving a reliable, and steady state plant operation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the general process as a whole, for the purpose of operational troubleshooting during startup and initial operation.
  • Point of coordination for process licensors and vendor technical queries related to the process design and operation of the facility.
  • Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit.
  • Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
  • Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups.
  • Mentors engineers, scientists, designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline.
  • Knowledge of P&ID development, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to selection of design features within the discipline.
  • A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, from an accredited college or university, AND
  • Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering/construction firms.
  • MUST have previous experience as a process engineer on a large scale project.
  • MUST have previous “hands on” experience in an operating process plant.
  • Previous experience with Aconex and Bechtel engineering practices and programs preferred.
  • MUST have 3 years process simulation using UniSim, preferably on LNG plants.
  • MUST have 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer, preferably working on Honeywell Liquefaction Technology.
  • Experience working with and developing project schedules is desirable.

Skills

Primary Skills:

  • Knowledge & experience of Acid Gas Removal Units, and Condensate Stabilization is desirable.
  • Knowledge of requirements for completion of construction and startup of Compressors, Process Pumps and Fans.
  • Knowledge & experience of testing, commissioning, start-up, operation & turnover practices.
  • Knowledge of process and electrical isolation to perform safe work tasks.
  • Knowledge & experience in PTW, STARRT, JHA, LOTO procedures & practices.
  • Leadership skills & able to supervise craft for testing, startup and operations activity.
  • Computer skills including experience with MS Excel & MS Word, SetRoute, Teamworks, and Aconex in the execution of work assignments.
  • Knowledge of and prior experience in using Bechtel's SWPPs and STCPs to govern work activities is desirable.

Communication Skills:

  • Good oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to effectively interface with others.
  • Must handle people and issues with a professional demeanor
