Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas fired power generation facilities in the U.S. Our team is helping the customer progress early-stage development, that would lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.

We are seeking an experienced candidate to be the Piping Field Superintendent on the single cycle gas turbine portion of the project in Pecos, Texas. You will relocate on a long-term (camp) assignment to the project in Pecos, TX. This position is contingent upon project award.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will provide onsite leadership for piping construction activities primarily focused on the project’s single cycle gas turbine units, ensuring all work is executed safely, meets technical requirements, and aligns with project schedule and budget objectives. This role directs craft labor and subcontractors, oversees daily field operations, and drives workforce planning, progress reporting, and cost/schedule performance. Working closely with engineering, construction management, and project controls, the Field Superintendent resolves constructability issues, supports the development of work scopes, and ensures effective use of automation tools and project procedures. The position plays a central role in maintaining quality, enforcing use of current design documents, and ensuring that tools, materials, and equipment are available to support efficient execution. #LI-JL1

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership/Supervision

  • Lead and direct subordinate superintendents, craft labor and subcontractor teams, ensuring safe and efficient execution of daily work.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance and coordination, ensuring alignment with project expectations.
  • Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
  • Oversee, coordinate and report field activities of construction subcontracts.
  • Engage proactively in team development through CPM processes, competency assessments, and continuous feedback.
  • Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
  • Develop and monitor 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
  • Develop corrective plan to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
  • Verify that all material, tools and other resources needed to support the 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
  • Conduct foreman/subcontractor meetings to review/assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
  • Supervise direct hire projects general foreman and foreman.
  • Maintain a daily log for site records.
  • Review all craft/subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
  • Monitor supplier Technical Service Representative (supplier) daily log and review/approve their time sheets.
  • Coordinate assigned craft/subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other disciplines.
  • Conduct daily job safety analysis and daily workplan at the beginning of shift.

Planning

  • Determine workforce requirements.
  • Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.
  • Participate in weekly cost and schedule reviews with senior management.
  • Manage activities with other disciplines or areas and clients‘ resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
  • Coordinate and direct multi-discipline craft activities within a specific area of the project, or all related crafts of a single discipline covering one or more areas of the project.
  • Forecast labor unit rates, field distributable, construction equipment, and quantities.
  • Monitor BSAP / Automation tools utilized within their area.
  • Assign/re-assign Installation Work Packages to the RS BSAP/Automation tools.
  • Review subcontractor construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
  • Coordinate construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
  • Coordinate with other subcontractors and external stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules.
  • Manage tools, materials & equipment and monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.

Safety & Quality

  • Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all designchanges are approved prior to implementation.
  • Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Ensure the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelors degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Preferred previous experience delivering a power plant as Piping Superintendent.
  • Oversee engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Foremen, and Craft Professionals.
  • Experience coordinating with design on constructability issues.
  • Experience overseeing the preparation of testing processes and required test equipment.
  • Experience with the development of commodity installation means and methods.
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry / International Codes & Standards applicable to work scope.
  • Utilizes and leverages applicable automation software and processes as applicable.
  • A thorough knowledge of ASME & ASTM.
  • Demonstrated experience in craft management and understanding of the project (Non Union) labor agreements.
