Project Overview:

Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future. 

Job Summary:

As a sustainability specialist, you will help coordinate the integration of sustainability requirements into project level documents, including design criteria, contract packages and contractor plans and submittals. In performing this role, the specialist will support sustainability management, IS, GreenStar and similar rating  delivery across multiple projects, and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that sustainability targets are being met.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides support to the Sustainability Manager and Team to integrate PAPL's broader sustainability commitments across the capital works portfolio 
  • Supports communications, stakeholder engagement, data management, measurement and/or reporting of sustainability rating requirements 
  • Follows prescribed methods/means to monitor and review evidence collection and submission packages in accordance with rating system credit requirements 
  • Coordinates with others to monitor and facilitates progress of contractor and consultant's achievement of sustainability ratings and contributions to PAPL sustainability program goals  
  • Organizes/participates in meetings with project team members and contractors to monitor actions to ensure sustainability compliance and progress of deliverables
  • Tracks and reports on progress and support the prepartio of monthly reports 
  • Prepares sustainability presentations, case studies, and material for website content as assigned 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a University degree in relevant field such as Engineering, Environmental Science or Management or Sustainability, with 2 -3 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
  • Requires familiarity with sustainability rating systems such as IS or Green Star, professional accreditation a plus

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Relevant Experience in Sustainability - prior involvement in sustainability programs in the work place.
  • Data management and analysis skills
  • Strong Listening, Oral and Written Communication and Content Development Skills
  • Able to work collaboratively, takes good direction but can deal with ambiguity and a dynamic environment
  • Technical proficiency with common tools (Excel, PowerPoint, collaboration tools like SharePoint).
  • Organized with attention to detail and able to meet deadlines 
  • Demonstrated positive and flexible attitude and willingness to take on a wide range of diverse tasks
