Project Overview:

Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future. 

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage the scope, schedule, and work processes of a project sustainability program. You will participate in strategy, planning, work process implementation, issue management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for the capital projects programme. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manages the scope, schedule, and considers resourcing of the sustainability program for capital projects as part of the sustainability programme
  • Collaborates with other functions and disciplines to plans, implements and maintain the sustainability program to enhance social and environmental benefits
  • Participates in strategy, planning, implementation, procedure management, knowledge management, measurement and reporting, risk management, continuous improvement, and serves as a subject-matter expert for the project team regarding sustainability rating certifications
  • Communicates the project and/or organization's sustainability vision and program information
  • Monitors and facilitates progress of sustainability programs consistent with strategies, goals, measurements, and reporting standards
  • Incorporates scope and reviews and makes recommendations of the Sustainability aspects of bid evaluations and awards for approval
  • Coordinates with client representatives to obtain their approval of the Sustainability program aspects of the work
  • Supports consultant and contractors to effectively perform according to sustainability requirements and expectations
  • Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of those assigned to implement parts of the sustainability program
  • Ensures that assigned Sustainability personnel receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13  years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
  • Requires professional accreditation in one or more sustainability certifications (e.g. IS, Green Star)
  • Requires experience obtaining sustainability ratings on large public buildings, complex/campus environments and/or infrastructure. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Significant knowledge and experience with major sustainability rating systems in the built environment
  • Experience working in sustainability applied to engineering, procurement and construction work processes
  • Experience documenting and achieving rating system credits 
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, experience with software and tracking tools
  • Ability to develop key performance indicators and track and measure performance in a meaningful way
  • Effective oral and written communicator, good listening skills and ability to target communication to obtain desired results
  • Ability to collaborate to achieve desired results
