Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will monitor and organize subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical activities on a complex project with multiple stakeholders’ involvement, through the coordination and instruction of subcontractor’s management staff. Your field supervision will help ensure operations are planned to coincide with overall established schedules and that work methods are planned and executed safely.
Major Responsibilities:
- In this role you will report to the Program Director and be responsible for managing project planning and execution for assigned scope (list as applicable).
- Assists Program Director in managing the development of realistic project management & execution plans and ensures program meets its objectives.
- Supports Program Director to ensure program meets deliverable dates and stays within budget.
- Demonstrates basic familiarity with the project management tools and processes utilized by their team.
- Supports the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork,
empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. - Manages construction of assigned scope (and design components if a Design and Construct Deed) through to practical completion including defect period and handover of all documentation to assure compliance with the contract obligations relative to safety, environment, sustainability, quality, program and budget.
- Report on construction aspects of the assigned scope, maintain regular stakeholder contact for progress of work and, exchange of information.
- Review design documents, change orders, material requisitions and specifications for construction associated with the contractor’s scope of works.
- Utilizes formal data-driven review processes to monitor program performance in their assigned scope and ensure compliance with technical requirements.
- Supports the program team's responses to events or changed stakeholder requirements.
- Actively demonstrates that safety is a core value. Supports the project wide safety programs and processes and sustainability activities.
- Assists in on-the-job-training of assigned personnel.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in the successful management of major projects in the infrastructure and aviation industries.
- Experience working with and managing contracts.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
- Known for high level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
- Computer literate in MS Office and database applications as well as BIM environments required.
- Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
