Job Summary:

In this role, you will report to the Program Director – Capital Projects, and you will provide oversight of all construction operations in the Capital Projects Program, which comprises a diverse mix of projects across the airport. You will provide oversight to teams that monitor contractor planning, quality, interfaces, safety, construction, traffic and logistics, and completions within the landside precinct where you will monitor that the contractors are compliant with project policies, procedures, site rules and procedures, and are performing within specifications and schedules.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Proactively engages with their team’s development through continuous performance management, competency development and feedback.
  • Ensure that the work by contractors is undertaken in a manner that addresses and eliminates personnel and environmental hazards, and ensure that risk analysis, health risk assessments, and work method statements, where required, are in place. 
  • Provides consultation, technical guidance and direction to Construction and other support functions.
  • Manages the successful completion of activities related to the construction of assigned scope.
  • Oversees the review of standard plans and specifications for constructability.
  • Participates in technical meetings with Project Contractors.
  • Interfaces with Project Contractors to review construction methods for assigned scope.
  • Participates in engineering, construction and management review meetings.
  • Ensures the Project Contractor’s construction program tools and deliverables meet contract requirements, and are consistent across assigned area.
  • Acts as liaison between engineering and construction.
  • Ensure the contractor is executing the contract in line with the terms & conditions set out. 

 

Leadership

  • Manages the work efforts of managers or professionals.
  • Responsible for staffing decisions, performance appraisals, and pay reviews.
  • Supports the training of new team members as required, through both formal training courses and on-the-job training.
  • Makes decisions based on business objectives and allocated resources.
  • May be responsible for a major functional Program and not have any subordinate employees.
  • Participates in planning and budgeting.
  • Prepares, assembles or contributes to board reports.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Typically requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in the successful management of major projects in the infrastructure and aviation industries. 
  • Knowledge of the principles of health & safety, quality and environment legislation and best practice. 
  • Known for high level of interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrable delivery of leadership and behavioural change within a large organisation and with outside organizations.
  • Computer literate in MS Office and database applications as well as PowerBI required.
  • Ability to influence and engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
