Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future. 

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Materials Handing Manager, you will coordinate the proper handling, storage and distribution of construction materials, implement inventory control measures to avoid shortages and overstock situations, and coordinates with responsible groups that materials are provided in a timely manner and in sufficient quantity to support the completion of construction work

Major Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and supervise the receipt of warehouse and store materials, ensuring all goods and supplies are stored and recorded in line with established procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and distribution of construction materials; coordinate with responsible groups so that materials are provided in a timely manner and in sufficient quantity to support the completion of construction work.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials.
  • Act as the primary liaison at project sites between Project Supply Chain for planning and reporting of undelivered materials, Field Supply Chain for stored materials, and Construction personnel for accurate reporting of materials required for work package installation.
  • Ensure accurate distribution of materials to construction and/or contractor installation locations.
  • Implement inventory control measures to avoid shortages and overstock situations; manage inventory for a major site or large project, following existing procedures to identify and resolve issues.
  • Determine, with functional groups, the best strategy for fabricated systems that provide the greatest overall value on the project.
  • Carry out a specified range of complex tests; interpret test data to verify that specifications are met and/or to identify remedial actions required to ensure conformance.
  • Enforcement Inspections: Undertake somewhat complex inspections, as part of a prioritised inspection regime, to check compliance with regulations, licence requirements, and legislation.
  • Identify, within the team, instances of non-compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures and/or relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, reporting these instances and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate professional records and case files, in accordance with statutory requirements and local policies and procedures, to ensure that information is auditable.
  • Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
  • Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching. Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Other responsibilities as reasonably directed by leadership team.   

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree combined with up to 3 years experience
  • Professional Member of Engineers Australia, preferably Chartered, or actively working towards Chartered status.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Demonstrated technical knowledge of related construction systems, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials for major infrastructure or aviation projects. 
• Ability to coordinate large scale construction activities and establish and maintain strong and effective stakeholder relationships. 
• Ability to work across disciplines and manage competing priorities.
• Computer literate in MS Office and database applications required.
