Project Overview:
Perth Airport is a 24/7 operational airport in Western Australia, serving as the 'Western Gateway' to Australia. The airport is undergoing a major $5 BN (AUD) redevelopment over the next 7 years which will see the consolidation of the airport terminals into “one airport”, a new parallel runway, and construction of supporting airport infrastructure including associated roadworks, the airport’s first hotel and two multi-storey car parks. Working in an integrated client management team as the Capital Portfolio Partner, Bechtel will initially be responsible for 1) leading the development of the systems, tools and processes, required by the integrated client team, to successfully plan and manage the redevelopment works, and 2) developing the portfolio cost & schedule baseline.
Job Summary:
In this position, you will ensure the Perth Airport - New Runway Project environmental and heritage commitments are being adhered and managed to a high standard.
Major Responsibilities:
Compliance and Assurance:
- Monitor all construction approval conditions; MDP, Section 18 and CEMP commitments for the Perth New Runway (PNR) Project:
- Environmental & Heritage Compliance and Assurance
- Liaise with Perth Airport and Contractor team members to ensure compliance and alignment with organisational policies, frameworks and processes.
- Participate and undertake environmental risk assessments, inspections, audits, monitoring, and compliance tasks to report on and enhance environmental and heritage performance.
- Update Project environmental management plans as and when required.
- Support input into design and tender documents and review of tender submissions, management plans and other submissions.
- Conduct inspections and audits to ensure PAPL compliance with regulatory environmental requirements, PAPL EMS and Perth Airport Environment Strategy.
Stakeholder Management:
- Work collaboratively with the Perth Airport project team and contractors and take responsibility for safe, compliant and quality work programs.
- Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels to foster strong awareness and commitment towards environmental, heritage and system compliance on construction projects.
PNR Project Support
- Review and update environmental management plans and oversee their implementation.
- Coordinate and complete environmental and heritage tasks and ensuring quality, compliance, and maintenance of stakeholder relationships.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science or equivalent.
- 5 to 10 years’ experience delivering environment and heritage management and compliance responsibilities within large scale construction projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of WA and Commonwealth environment and heritage legislation with experience in compliance management.
- Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining construction/operational Environmental Management plans and frameworks.
- Construction induction training (White Card).
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Qualified Auditor -Environment Management Systems (desirable).

- Has a collaborative attitude and is able to develop trust and meaningful relationships with peers and stakeholders.
- Disciplined with meeting project timeframes and quality expectations with a proven ability to prioritise and work under time constraints.
- The ability to perform under pressure, working within a team or independently to meet project needs with a detail-oriented focus and capacity for proactive/continual improvement.
- Ability to manage large work programs with competing tasks, deadlines, and involvement with internal and external parties.
- Demonstrated positive and flexible attitude with a willingness to take on a wide range of diverse tasks and adjust to competing priorities.
