Bechtel is providing a wide variety project and contract management services, crossing all disciplines, to customers in Western Australia to support exciting capital works programmes, including in aviation, defence and energy infrastructure. We are looking for people to join us in a long-term relationship to deliver these services in and around Perth where we are working within integrated teams with our customers and to help build Bechtel’s capabilities for even greater opportunities in the future.
Job Summary:
Major Responsibilities:

Leadership & Direction: Lead all aspects of built form design projects from initiation to completion of construction documentation. Define project briefs, determine deliverables, and manage engagement of external consultants and resources. Communicate vision, objectives, and priorities to motivate stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project briefs. Work with Project Management, approvals, heritage, and environmental teams for smooth project delivery.

Design Oversight: Oversee all aspects of the design process, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with technical requirements. Lead technical reviews of design documentation and ensure alignment with Master Plans and business strategies.

Construction Advice & Support: Provide specialist advice on construction regulations, best practices, maintenance, and building works. Monitor consultant outputs and design quality during construction phases.

Cost Calculation & Analysis: Prepare and analyze costings for large-scale construction, maintenance, or improvement works, including materials, labor, and quantities.

Project Budgeting: Develop and manage budget plans for construction projects, monitor progress, and conduct post-calculations.

Insights & Reporting: Prepare and coordinate data and analytics reports on design and construction performance.

Performance Management: Set and manage performance objectives for self and team, ensuring accountability and corrective action as needed.

Operational Compliance: Ensure regulatory requirements are established and managed. Maintain knowledge of policies, procedures, and codes, addressing non-compliance appropriately.

Organizational Capability Building: Identify and meet team capability needs using development frameworks. Provide training and coaching to improve performance.

Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as directed by leadership.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- 10+ years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of aviation industry/regulatory codes and standards, and design criteria for infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of engineering planning, control methods, and construction practices.
- Extensive experience in field engineering, construction, and T&C activities.
- Experience with complex interfaces in airport design and coordination with multiple design contractors.
- Proficiency in computer applications for engineering and design.
