Project Overview:
The Project includes the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of 3 new bucket-wheel reclaimers including associated structural, mechanical, electrical and communications services. The Project also includes the design and construction of associated off-board scope including bulk earthworks, civil infrastructure, structural works and electrical upgrades to support the functionally safe operation of the new reclaimers.
Job Summary:
As Civil Field Engineer, you will provide technical direction on Civil construction engineering work for the Project.
This role provides engineering assistance to the Project team, assists with meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality, and assures results meet design requirements.
Major Responsibilities:
- Performing inspections and initiating supporting documentation for all Civil installations on an ongoing basis.
- Providing support to field supervision in establishing requirements for workforce, tools, equipment, and material requirements for a given work activity.
- Developing / reviewing installation work packages and construction work packages in support of the construction schedule.
- Executing field material take-offs from "Issued For Construction" drawings. Providing input to the quantity tracking applications and reporting on weekly installed quantities.
- Preparing field material requisitions for equipment and materials, and monitoring status of purchase orders and deliveries.
- Assisting field procurement in receipt inspection and reporting of associated equipment and materials, preventive maintenance requirements and storage requirements.
- Other tasks as designated.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- University/B.S degree in Engineering or Construction Management plus 5 years of experience or 8 years of equivalent industry experience in-lieu of a degree.
- Construction experience assigned to a construction site preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience preferred.
- Good knowledge in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other common applications used in the construction industry preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to motivate team members effectively & positively in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations.
- Experience on a Mining construction site especially in Western Australia.
- Experience managing Works Contractors.
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs) including Setroute, Unifier, Aconex, DSCS, PTR, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools which are used on Bechtel projects.
