Project Overview:
Bechtel, a global leader in project management, engineering, procurement and construction, has been engaged to undertake a Feasibility Study through to EPCM construction and commissioning by one of our key clients. This Project involves greenfields and brownfields developments including earthworks through challenging terrain, construction of new crushing facilities, and transmission line installations.
Job Summary:
This role will assist the civil team in the delivery of roads, pads, earthworks and drainage design for various clients and projects, from pre-feasibility phase through study and construction to close out, utilising 12D design software and MicroStation cad packages.
Major Responsibilities:
- The preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.
- Develops designs for complete and complex civil engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage and road design with minimum supervision from which construction drawings are completed.
- Prepares or assists with the preparation of quantity/material take offs
- Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved civil design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
- Participates in constructability reviews.
- Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.
- Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve problems and interpret drawings and documents.
- Reviews civil design scope changes, as required, for project management.
- Ensures civil designs comply with all applicable mining codes, regulations, and Australian standards.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Typically requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Career-level position within field.
- A good understanding of civil and road engineering principles, road geometry design process and safety requirements.
- Experience in using 12D design software
- Experience in using MicroStation or AutoCAD cad packages.
- Previous experience within the civil design industry, especially mining would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of the Austroads design recommendations.
