Project Overview:

Job Summary:

The Project Information and Innovation Manager (PIIM) is at the core of Bechtel’s data centric delivery model and is responsible for understanding the relevant stakeholder information required to deliver the project and identifying how these outputs will be met through information tools. Provide directions over Document Controllers, Project IS&T, Project EPC Automation, and Project Analytics. The PIIM also liaises with both internal and external key stakeholders, including developing the information and document management requirements that will be flowed down to 3rd party engineering consultants and/or construction firms. The PIIM develops and implements the Information Management Plan and corresponding System and Data Integration, Document Management, and 3D Design and Construction Execution Plans in accordance with Bechtel standards, project functional needs, and client information requirements to describe the way in which the project will achieve data centric delivery successfully. The position is responsible to provide cross-functional coordination and methods of integration including, but not limited to, 3D Model Development, 4D Integrated Schedule, Common Data Environment (CDE) alignment, 5D Integrated Cost, document management, IS&T, and drive an innovative culture on project. #LI-MJ1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to Information Management Teams, including Document Control, IS&T, EPC Automation, and Project Analytics.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and BIM teams, including external partners, to integrate BIM requirements.
  • Oversee the Information Management Plan and related execution plans to support the PEP.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to define life‑cycle information needs and shape the Information Management Plan.
  • Assign and coordinate key project information roles.
  • Lead implementation of the Project Information Model across all project phases to meet client, Bechtel, and industry standards.
  • Ensure IS&T automation plans support and connect to the Project Information Model.
  • Review project procedures to maintain consistency with the Information Management Plan.
  • Support training on the Project Information Model, CDE, and related tools, engaging subject matter experts as needed.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to assess progress and identify improvements.
  • Maintain coordination with functional leads across Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, Construction, Start‑Up, Commissioning, and Operations.
  • Work with Project Controls and Construction to maintain appropriate detail and continuity throughout each phase.
  • Review Procurement and Contracts tender documents to confirm supply‑chain information capabilities.
  • Oversee implementation and usage standards for the Common Data Environment (CDE).
  • Guide configuration and management of Aconex to support project needs.
  • Direct EPC Automation and IS&T in deploying automation tools and ensuring system integration within the CDE.
  • Interpret client information requirements and support development of the Project Delivery Matrix, including coding structures such as WBS and asset classifications.
  • Liaise with client stakeholders to confirm information requirements are met.
  • Provide input on design information needs, including required levels of detail and data attributes.
  • Promote innovation by encouraging new ideas and identifying ways the Project Information Model can improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with GBU and Corporate Innovation teams on new technologies and initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires degree in relevant field (i.e. engineering, construction, project management, business, information management, IS&T, automation) with 13+ years of experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Significant experience working within the EPC functions or a strong project-led understanding of cross-functional EPC work processes and the applications used for project execution with a passion for implementing new and innovative work processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization.  
  • Self-motivated individual with outstanding leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority.  
  • Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities with demonstrated experience providing direction/supervising a team.  
  • Good understanding of configuration management and application integration requirements to enable cross-functional data integration.
