Bechtel is seeking a Configuration Manager. This position provides engineering support to a team of professionals on a major light rail transit expansion project in Ontario, Canada. The Configuration Manager will be responsible for Leading the development, implementation of the configuration management plans, procedure and processes. Provide the governance, advice, guidance to the project regarding the implementation and ongoing management of the projects configuration system. Through the development and implementation of surveillance activities. This position will report directly to Systems Integration Manager and will work within a team of related disciplines to support the delivery of the project.


Job Responsibilities

  • Manage project obligations with regards to Configuration Management in accordance with the Employers Requirements.
  • Development of internal processes and practices in support of Configuration Management across all disciplines.
  • Coordinate the configuration management process with the requirements by assisting in the definition and administration of the design configuration for documentation, hardware, and software.
  • Where required provide training and support for project technical staff and subcontracted entities.
  • Oversight & Management and the preparation & upkeep of the Consortium configuration management process and tools.
  • Participate in assurance reviews and ensure deliverables required for configuration management are submitted, reviewed, and acceptable
  • Lead change management activities and assists in determining the impact on interfacing parties.
  • Lead in the production of periodic Configuration Management reports where all CI’s are identified whether current or undergoing any form of change.


Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management (preferably Chartered Engineer) or related field with 13 years of experience in design Or in lieu of Bachelor’s degree 19 years of relevant experience in engineering design, construction or infrastructure industry.
  • Must have minimum of 5 years’ of experience in the development and implementation configuration management on major rail and infrastructure project.
  • Must have significant design experience in a related project environment.
  • Experience of configuration management tools and processes, including developing Configuration Management plans, processes, policies and procedures and supporting project teams.
  • Experience of ensuring requirements and configuration management activities provide necessary objective evidence to support the project safety-case.
  • Knowledge of system approval processes and bodies.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent verbal/ written communication (interfacing with non-specialist technical team members).
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative environment involving the client and flexible enough to carry out any tasks required to complete, review and accept Systems Engineering deliverables.
  • Working knowledge and application of BS ISO 10007:2003 Quality management systems (Guidelines for configuration management) and other related industry configuration standards.
