Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. We use our expertise to help our customers securely and effectively transform mission delivery.

Job Summary:

Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental (NS&E) business is seeking a Systems Integration Developer to help build and sustain a data centric, integrated application ecosystem that connects Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Startup (E/P/C/S) work processes. Operating within the Project Information Management (PIM) organization, this role creates programmatic solutions — i.e., integrations, services, and tools — that enable secure, reliable data exchange between commercial off the shelf (COTS) systems and custom/homegrown applications. The developer partners closely with multiple functions to support the project’s digital delivery plan and drive innovation through practical automation across the construction lifecycle (3D/4D/5D, reporting, and common data environment). This role is designed for hands on contributors who enjoy solving integration problems with SQL, APIs, and modern development practices, and who are eager to learn the project’s specialized applications and data flows. #LI-TN1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop utilities and adapters (e.g., SQL procedures, microservices, or scripts) to standardize data ingestion/extraction and enforce naming, structures, and metadata that support the project’s common data environment.
  • Proactively identify and pilot modern automation approaches (e.g., API first microservices, event driven integrations, secure AI assisted data reconciliation) to resolve emergent data exchange issues between COTS and custom systems, then harden successful prototypes into supported solutions aligned to the project’s digital delivery plan.
  • Build data integrations and services that move and transform data between COTS and custom systems (ETL/ELT jobs, REST/JSON APIs, file based exchanges, automation scripts) with strong validation and error handling.
  • Implement monitoring and quality controls (logging, reconciliation checks, exception dashboards) to ensure data integrity, uniformity, and authoritative sources in project reports.
  • Create and maintain project reporting assets (e.g., model driven datasets, semantic layers, and dashboards) in collaboration with analysts and functional SMEs.
  • Document interfaces and work processes (runbooks, sequence diagrams, data dictionaries) and contribute to automation standards and reusable patterns.
  • Collaborate cross functionally with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Startup, and vendors to map requirements, prototype solutions, and deliver incremental value.
  • Provide user support and training for automation solutions—triage issues, optimize jobs, and assist with change management and releases.
  • Align work to the project’s automation roadmap and digital delivery plan and help operationalize roadmap items within construction work processes.
  • Comply with project/security requirements for NS&E environments (access controls, data handling) and follow established quality methods and procedures.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2- 5 years of relevant experience or in lieu of education, 6-9 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • SQL & Data Integration Fundamentals — ability to author queries, stored procedures, and data pipelines; comfort with ETL/ELT patterns and data quality checks.
  • Exposure to SQL development (queries, stored procedures, triggers) and API integration (REST, JSON).
  • API & Scripting Proficiency — familiarity with building/reading REST endpoints; parse JSON; automate tasks using a common language (e.g., C#, Python, or JavaScript/Node).
  • Reporting/Analytics Basics — familiarity with Power BI or SSRS; understanding of semantic models and source of truth concepts for project reporting.
  • Systems Thinking & Documentation — map interfaces, define contracts, and write clear runbooks/specifications that others can support.
  • Collaboration & Communication — partner with multidisciplinary teams (E/P/C/S and vendors), translate requirements, and iterate on prototypes toward stable production solutions.
  • Familiarity with reporting/BI (e.g., Power BI, SSRS) and basic data modeling concepts is a plus.
