Project Overview:

Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of intercontinental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.


A major contractor for the United States government, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Responsibilities:

  • Obtains required startup schedule information from all disciplines/functions. Identifies startup restraints and effects on the total project schedule. Coordinates with all departments to ensure an understanding of startup schedule needs.
  • Supports the total integration of startup schedule activities. Identifies startup schedule considerations and problems resulting from inter-discipline or functional restraints and interfaces.
  • Monitors and reports critical path and startup schedule performance of the total project. Conducts startup schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to determine the criticality of scheduled activities.
  • Recommends alternatives for schedule improvement to the project team for discussion and/or decision.
  • Leads, when requested, the development and review of startup schedule recovery plans, including evaluation of additional resources/costs required to affect such plans.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s (BS/BA) degree from an accredited university and at least 1 year of professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, high school diploma or equivalent and at least 7 years of professional experience. 
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s (BS/BA) degree from an accredited university and at least 3 years of professional experience, or in lieu of a degree, high school diploma or equivalent and at least 9 years of professional experience. 
  • US citizenship is required per contract requirements.
  • Must possess an active security clearance or an ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check including verification of employment, education, and travel.
  • Must be able to obtain a site security badge for access to the worksite.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate good interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
  • Willing and able to travel on a short-term basis as needed to support project activities.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in using Microsoft operating systems and software applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.


Preferred Requirements:

  • The previous government-certified Earned Value Management System experience on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) job.
  • Prior startup experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) jobs.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and analyzing issues and recommending corrective actions.
