Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary:

The Senior Planner will help lead and perform strategic scheduling analysis activities including:

  • Schedule strategy development, maintenance, monitoring, impact identification, and recovery planning
  • Reporting and analysis including P6 metrics / Acumen Fuse
  • Support strategic studies, forecasts, and problem-solving exercises#LI-TN1

Major Responsibilities:

  • Performs strategic schedule analysis, identifies problems, and provides recommendations.
  • Leads the strategic effort to set milestones for total project or major portions of the project. 
  • Maintains open communications to support schedule strategy and reporting. 
  • Monitors and reports critical path and schedule performance. 
  • Performs strategic schedule analysis and studies of problem areas to optimize scheduled activities. 
  • Identifies alternatives for schedule improvement to project team for discussion and/or decision.
  • Prepares schedule recovery plans when required.
  • Ascertains that the correct scope of work and the project execution plan are reflected on all schedules.
  • Analyzes schedule data and identifies and acquires the information needed for work logics. 
  • Monitors schedule deviation and recommends corrective action/workaround solutions for consideration.
  • Develops and writes schedule commentary for monthly progress and similar reports.
  • Identifies and reports activities that have a critical or potential impact on the schedule.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10  years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • US citizenship is required per contract.
  • Must possess active security clearance or an ability to obtain security clearance.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check including verification of employment, education, and travel.
  • Must be able to obtain site security badge for access to work site.
  • Demonstrated advanced capability level with Primavera (P6) and experience in its application on complex engineering, procurement, and construction projects.
  • Experience in preparing, monitoring, and reporting schedule information.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft software applications such as Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people of varied backgrounds and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
  • U.S. Government Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
