Project Overview

Bechtel has joined the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles, or ICBMs, and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of ICBMs, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. Our team’s scope will include launch system design, construction, and integration during the engineering and manufacturing development phase.  

 

Position Summary

Bechtel’s Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) team is currently seeking a Project IT Automation Supervisor to join and help lead the IS&T team. Successful candidate will support the Information Technology (IT) Plan for all sites, but is based in the GBSD project office in Ogden, UT. The assignment includes the direct implementation or implementation coordination of IT systems and services. Provides comprehensive automation support to and coordination with the GBSD project. Performs work that requires the application of fundamental Information Systems and Technology principles in a variety of contexts. Some of contexts are extremely complex, innovative, or non-standard and can be in an office, field construction, or mobile environment. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the day-to-day operations of the GBSD helpdesk and its staff. Interface with NS&E Helpdesk Leads to coordinate coverage and support for the various GBSD sites.
  • Work directly with the client and business partners to seek out opportunities for establishing sustainable communication processes and technologies to enhance inter-company partnerships.
  • Coordinate functional IT support of project disciplines [Engineering, Construction, Safety, etc] with the local project automation support representative for each discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure related to selection and integration of technologies in support of office and field deployed users.
  • Advanced knowledge of field communication technologies and experience selecting appropriate technologies in a wide variety of geographically deployed circumstances.
  • Oversee project IT asset inventory control in accordance with property management processes in a govt environment.
  • Ability to interface with customers in a personable, effective, and timely manner to quickly resolve any IT issues, and identify opportunities for systemic process improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance for operational IT cyber, IT security, and IT classified practices in a variety of collaborative environments governed by DOD requirements.
  • Advanced understanding of and practical application with implementing process improvement initiatives in a project IT environment.

 

Experience implementing and\or maintaining the following:

  • End-user devices including PCs, printers, VOIP, and mobile device technologies.
  • Windows workstation\server, Linux server, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, construction, engineering, procurement, and other project standard applications.
  • Workstation Image building and deployment. Ethernet and TCP\IP fundamentals of interconnectivity.
  • Engineering and construction automation systems and software. Participate in special projects as directed by management.
  • Ensure a safe working environment within all IT work areas.
  • Provide after-hours emergency IT support to the project as required.
  • Consistent local travel and periodic regional travel required.  

 

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Recognized BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university and 9+ years of relevant work experience or 15+ years’ practical work experience in information systems and technology in lieu of degree.
  • Possess the legal right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD secret security clearance.
  • Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process.
  • Candidates for unescorted access to Department of Defense (DOD) facilities must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). 
  • All employees are subject to and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of continued employment for the duration of their assignment.
  • The ability to obtain/maintain access to the project facilities is required.
  • Must be physically fit and able to work safely at these facilities.
  • Experience providing IT workstation and software support to end users. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with large enterprise IT infrastructure, practices, and processes.
  • Experience providing IT infrastructure support in a DOD classified environment.
