Job Summary:

In this role, you will fly Bechtel aircraft as Pilot-in-Command (PIC) or Second-in-Command (SIC), and provide safe, dependable, and flexible air travel for executive management. You will assist with pre-flight planning, crewmember compliance, safety condition assessment, and with passenger services. Your work will ensure that executive travel needs are met in a secure, efficient, and timely manner. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Checks weather, all applicable Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), determines the aircraft weight and balance, and the appropriate fuel, oil and oxygen requirements.
  • Makes the final decision as to whether or not an aircraft may be safely operated.  As required, consults with other departments to resolve maintenance irregularities, passenger service issues, and operational planning.
  • Completes an aircraft pre-flight inspection before each departure.
  • Conducts pre-flight planning and pre-flight briefing of operational pilots; ensures that assigned aircraft crewmembers have valid licenses, medical certificates, passports, and visas, if required.
  • Ensures a Part 91 compliant briefing is conducted for all passengers prior to flight.
  • Assumes absolute authority relative to the safe operation of the aircraft and over other crewmembers during aircraft movement to ensure compliance with customs, immigration and sabotage laws.
  • Operates the aircraft in accordance with operator procedures and aircraft limitations to ensure the safe transport of key executives and their families, authorized employees, and physical assets.
  • Oversees the appropriate provision of passenger services during trips, e.g., the arrangement of in-flight catering while away from home base, as well as verifying itinerary times for the next scheduled departure with the lead passenger.
  • Completes all post-flight duties, including conducting post-flight briefings, completing all post-flight documentation and record keeping in an accurate and timely manner, clearing and restocking the cabin and galley areas, notifying maintenance of any aircraft defects, and notifying BAO of any deviation from the planned itinerary or overnight location.  Remains in command of other crewmembers until the end of the assignment duty period or until command is relinquished.
  • Has full responsibility and is the final authority for the safe operation of the airplane.
  • Directs the activities of all crewmembers in a manner that promotes maximum safety, responsibility and operational effectiveness.
  • May fly as Second-in-Command on designated trip sequences. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Licenses and certificates

  • Current 1st Class FAA Medical Certificate
  • Airline Transport Pilot, with Instrument and Airplane Multi-Engine Land ratings
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred

 Flight Experience minimums

  • 2,500 hours of Pilot in Command (PIC) time1
  • 1,500 hours of multi-engine time
  • 1,000 hours of turbine-powered time
  • 500 hours PIC in multi-engine turbine powered aircraft

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of FARs and appropriate portions of the AIM (Airmen's Information Manual).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in dealing with executive management, government officials, and service center representatives.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours and be able to travel for extended periods of time.
