Project Overview:
Bechtel is working with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Consolidated Nuclear Security to construct the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF supports the long-term viability, safety, and security of enriched uranium capabilities in the United States. This modernization fortifies the country’s nuclear defense, reduces global threats, improves worker safety, and lowers operating and maintenance costs.
UPF will become the key operations center at Y-12, replacing 80-year-old facilities with modern buildings designed and constructed to current safety and security standards.
Job Summary:
The National Electric Code Inspector is responsible for ensuring electrical installations and systems comply with the standards set forth in the National Electrical Code (NEC). This role involves conducting inspections, reviewing electrical plans, and verifying that all work meets safety and regulatory requirements. . Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of electrical systems to ensure compliance with NEC standards.
- Review electrical plans and specifications for accuracy and adherence to code.
- Identify violations and issue corrective actions or recommendations.
- Provide guidance to contractors and professional craft electricians on NEC compliance.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings and corrective measures.
- Stay updated on changes to the NEC and related safety regulations
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Minimum qualifications:
- The candidate shall have a current Certification as a National Electric Code Inspector and a working knowledge of current design codes and standards, such as NFPA 70-2014.
- Certification must be ICC “Commercial" or IAEI “General” and provide a copy of the certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent commercial nuclear experience at a Bechtel EPC Project.
- Recent experience as an Electrical Field Engineer.
- Experience in reviewing field drawings/plans of different disciplines and may include P&ID’s
- Previous experience with Setroute (Bechtel)
