Project Overview:
Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI), Bechtel’s government services business, is one of the top providers to departments and agencies of the U.S. and British governments. Its successes include many large, first-of-a-kind projects in government site management, environmental restoration, defense, space, energy, and national and homeland security. This position will provide support to the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) located at the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
UPF will be a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.
The UPF Construction project works on various schedules with differing start times, and may require employees to work overtime, weekends, and/or nightshift when a business need arises.
Eligibility for this position requires US citizenship; successful candidate must provide proof of US citizenship to obtain badge access to the site. Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check. All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain a security clearance, as applicable.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will support the preparation and maintenance of procedures and documents for project quality control. You will perform inspections, prepare reports, maintain records, update inspection requests, and document acceptance of activities. Your work will help ensure inspection functions are performed according to the inspection plan, and results comply with project and client requirements. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:
- Supports the preparation of procedures, administrative and technical documents.
- Coordinates activities with other disciplines and departments, as required and assigned.
- Maintains administrative and technical documents and files, as assigned.
- Performs inspections, prepares inspection reports, maintains records of inspections, and on a regular basis informs others of inspection results.
- Updates inspection requests/ tracking databases and other computer databases as required.
- Performs inspection functions in accordance with the inspection plan, monitors inspection duties assigned to subcontractors and reviews results of inspections.
- Inspects and documents acceptance of construction activities and installations.
- Responsibilities may include performing material receiving inspection, performing construction inspections, testing of material for conformance to established standards, providing routine analyses, performing construction tests, assembling data and analysis on inspection problems, recording results of testing procedures.
- Assists other Quality Control Engineers and interfaces with other discipline quality control personnel, as required.
- Issues and controls measuring and test equipment (M&TE). May perform calibration of M&TE.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires a University Hire with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs.
- Ability to calibrate Measuring and Test Equipment.
- Previous or working experience with the Power BI software.
- Current or previous receipt inspection certification.
- Understanding of NQA-1 storage of material requirements.
