Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the design, development, and evaluation of control systems components and processes. You will collaborate and support other engineering disciplines for control systems matters. Your professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard control systems engineering techniques will enable you to make impactful contributions to the team. #LI-AA7

Project Overview:

UPF is a multi-year, multi- billion dollar project and will be a first-of-its-kind complex for enriched uranium operations in support of Y-12 missions. UPF is one of the Department of Energy’s largest investments in Tennessee since the Manhattan Project and one of the National Nuclear Security Administration’s largest construction projects. When complete, UPF will: replace a 70-year-old facility with modern buildings, reduce operational costs and energy consumption, improve worker safety, and provide enriched uranium capabilities well into the future.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 1-2 years of relevant experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.

Level 2

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.

Major Responsibilities:

Level 1

  • Gains knowledge of Bechtel Policies, Procedures and Instructions.
  • Compiles and correlates data that will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard Control Systems engineering techniques and criteria utilizing relevant Engineering procedures, design standards and guides.​ 
  • Participates in design, development, modification and evaluation of Control Systems components and processes.
  • Provides input to and/or maintains technical logs and records​.
  • Prepares mark-ups of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams and other Control Systems deliverables.
  • Contributes to and maintains project instrument database and supports electronic data exchange.
  • Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines​, other functions and suppliers on Control Systems-related matters.

 

Level 2

  • Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Control Systems engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications​.
  • Participates in design, development, modification and evaluation of Control Systems components and processes.
  • Prepares mark-ups of Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), logic diagrams and other Control Systems deliverables.
  • Contributes to and maintains project instrument database and supports electronic data exchange.
  • May participate in logic programming activities for facility control systems.
  • Coordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines​, other functions and suppliers on Control Systems-related matters.
  • Provides technical assistance to other project Control Systems personnel and project supervision in identifying and complying with project Control Systems requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Level 1

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Power BI, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a nuclear quality and safety environment.
  • Previous DOE project experience.

Level 2

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S, citizen.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
