Job Summary:
We are looking for a talented development team member to join our team! As one of our developers, you will be working with a team of highly skilled and experienced engineers across multiple teams including development, implementation and integration, and secure operations who are delivering and operating systems for Bechtel Nuclear, Security & Environmental global business unit. These systems support our global customers and projects as they have a positive impact on cleaning up the environment, maintaining national and global security, generating sustainable energy, and returning to space.
Major Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) applications, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with business users, project managers, and other IS&T teams to gather requirements, define scope, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Provide technical expertise and support for existing applications, troubleshooting issues, and implement enhancements.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and training materials.
- Ensure adherence to Bechtel's IS&T standards, policies, and procedures, including security best practices.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and applicability to Bechtel's business needs.
- Work effectively in a team-oriented environment, providing mentorship and knowledge sharing to junior team members when appropriate.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain the current level of services and project support delivery to our key project customers.
- Assess the development of further upgrades to InfoWorks, primarily for the UPF project.
- Assist in administrating integrations involving Aconex and DocFinity.
- Assist in support activities involving InfoWorks.
- Assist in support activities involving DocFinity.
- Assist the team in responding to issues raised by Threat Management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Basic Qualifications:
- Due to requirements of federal government contracts, must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with the ability to remain and work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Demonstrated experience in application development using Key Programming Languages/Technologies: Java, JavaScript, .NET, and SQL.
- Proficient with the following technologies with a minimum of 5+ years’ experience:
- InfoWorks / DocFinity
- Documentum / OpenText
- Aconex
Preferred Qualifications:
- Awareness of with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Automated Testing, etc. preferred, not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to discuss and explain development options.
- Detail-oriented, critical thinker, problem solver and customer-focused.
- Comfortable working with multiple teams.
- Strong time-management skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a strong, contributing member of a development team.
- Familiarity with integration technologies and APIs (e.g., REST, SOAP).
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices.
- Experience in the engineering, construction, or project management industry.
- Ability to review and understand existing applications and code in order to make required changes and enhancements.
