Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate the engineering technical aspects for complex projects. You will participate in project planning, proposal review, and will own the engineering elements of capital estimates. Your technical guidance and recommendations will ensure engineering aspects meet project requirements and remain within scope and budget. #LI-AA1
Major Responsibilities:
- Directs and manages assigned scopes of design and engineering activities for projects of medium to large scale.
- As directed, manages complex interactions among multiple Bechtel entities or client-mandated collaborations with other contractors as required.
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of administrative practices.
- Responsible for providing inputs to, and owning, the assigned engineering components of a project's capital estimate including quantities and budgets for both proposals and execution phases.
- Performs and manages the work in accordance with relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
- Supports in establishes engineering schedule for the assigned scope in collaboration with all engineering disciplines. Contributes to the development of the Procurement schedule for project management’s approval.
- Establish the scope for project design subcontracts by specifying design criteria, delineating pertinent design deliverables, detailing work processes and procedures, and outlining the approval methodology.
- Primary responsibility includes managing the OSM Subcontracts and design interface.
- Develop and implement the modularization program, including preparation of the module list.
- Initiate service requisitions for OSM subcontracts, conduct proposal evaluations, and recommend suitable bidders.
- Report progress to the PEM and project team.
- Troubleshoot field issues and address RFIs, FCDs, NCRs, and direct changes in modular design as required.
- Interpret customer requirements and translate them into modular design criteria.
- Oversee the modularization program, encompassing mechanical vendor skids, racks, and structural/piping modules.
- Possess thorough knowledge of owner-specific design requirements, relevant local regulations, and constructability considerations.
- Review and verify work completed by subordinate engineers and subcontractors.
- Coordinate activities across engineering disciplines and manage modularization design subcontracts.
- Evaluate and review subcontractor submittals.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- 15+ years of progressive work experience, including supervision, preferably in project and staff design engineering or architectural design but may include other relevant types of engineering including startup, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms.
- Technical knowledge of related engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering and construction methods and materials, and engineering application of computers.
- Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
- Experience in the planning, implementation, and coordination of 3D modeling tools like Revit, Navisworks, SP Hexagon, etc.
- Knowledgeable in industry and regulatory codes and standards, as well as facilitating coordination for necessary approvals.
- Proficient in both oral and written communication.
- Proven ability to lead and supervise multidisciplinary engineering teams of varying sizes.
- Experience with modular design projects is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in planning and executing greenfield or brownfield projects in one or more of the following market segments: Semiconductor, AI Data Center, Life Sciences / Pharma or EV Batteries.
- Must have the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship.
