Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers.

Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline

Job Summary:

The Truss Program Manager is responsible for all activities within the Truss scope. In this role, you will manage the organization and direction of project construction activities and oversee the management including supervision of construction craft personnel, cost and schedule, your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget. #LI-SM2

 

Major Responsibilities:

•Manages the organization and direction of construction for all Structural steel, Structural pre-assembly and installation programs.
•Manages all structural activities including actions of Bechtel craft and subcontractors.
•Oversees management including supervision of other Structural superintendents
•Manages area expenditures for labor equipment, material and services and ensures field operations are within the budget
•Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite
•Develops, implements, and administers a jobsite security plan and coordinates the activities with corporate security department Safety & Quality
•Ensures development and execution of Project Automation Plan, Environmental Compliance Plan, safety plan, site survey plan, non-manual staffing plan, subcontracting plan, labor strategy, Construction Execution Plan, and job-site work rules
•Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications
•Monitors and directs subcontractor activities, through coordination and instruction of subcontractors' management staff within the area of responsibility.
Reviews and monitors project construction schedules, resource charts, and material and equipment requirements.
•Reviews and approves where necessary, project construction methods, schedules, manning charts, and material and equipment requirements.
•Leads the Structural construction operations impact on external interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules.
•Coordinates with other stakeholders (or subcontractors) to plan construction schedules.
•Reviews the project controls documents on progress relating to cost and schedule.
•Participates in the preparation / review of field change documents and requests for information.
•Supports Contracts with the verification of change notices and amendments.
•Ensures work methods are planned and executed safely.
•Proactively involved in continuous learning or show interest in pursuing appropriate learning activities.
•Supports Structural Advance Work Packaging (AWP) efforts
•Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors
•Typically, does not have responsibility for hiring or firing but may provide feedback
•Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
•Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
•Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Works with Superintendents, Field Engineers, Field leadership, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents
•Coordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, Superintendents and Field leadership.
•Coordinates with Design on constructability issues. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with large scale complex structural builds.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead teams.
  • Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
