Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

 

Job Summary:

The Structural Steel Superintendent will be responsible for Planning and erection direct hire structural steel. Erection of module activities in the assigned area on the Project while coordinating with other discipline superintendents, craft supervisors to undertake work scope. #LI-SM2

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Erection, alignment, fit up of structural steel and ensuring schedule progress is met
  • Interfacing with all disciplines to ensure planning of structural steel and installation meet construction requirements
  • Supervise and oversee dedicated direct hire support services, cranes, scaffolding, and painting.
  • Provide expertise and advice to other disciplines on matters relating to structural steel installations
  • Inspection of all materials to ensure compliance to specification requirements
  • Scheduling work to be performed and review work accomplished
  • Preparing schedules and providing input to quantity tracking
  • Preparing material requisitions for tools and consumables
  • Supervising and directing subordinate personnel in construction activities
  • Preparing reports and forecasts, job manpower forecasts and expenditure forecasts
  • Implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within area of responsibility
  • Coordinating activities with other construction disciplines and client representatives as necessary
  • Completing performance evaluations on direct reports
  • Ensuring compliance to all Bechtel, state and country safety codes.
  • Liaising with field engineers
  • Ensuring the most current design documents are utilized for all installations.
  • Time sheets

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Strong supervision experience including the ability to lead and manage change is desirable
  • 8-10 years’ experience in similar role within the Heavy Industrial Field.
  • Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong experience of liaising with and coordinating contractors and vendors
  • Strong technical knowledge of module assembly

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent problem-solving ability
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, construction or project management is desirable
